Grades 9–12, a select choir of 100 students directed by Kristina Boerger
As associate professor of music and director of choral activities, she directs the Concert Choir and coaches the Vocal Collective, also teaching the core choral conducting curriculum and supervising the voice program. In the summer she serves the Madison Early Music Festival as faculty soprano, choral conducting instructor, and conductor of the All-Festival orchestra and chorus. Boerger has appeared as guest conductor at the invitation of the New York Summer Music Festival, the Chicago Children’s Choir, the Kalamazoo Bach Festival, the University of Illinois Chamber Singers, the Schola Cantorum of Syracuse, the Christopher Caines Dance Company, and Alarm Will Sound. She has also served as guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician at festivals and conferences in several U.S. cities, in Quebec City, and in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Throughout the year, she concertizes as a soprano with Pomerium, the Rose Ensemble, and the Heartland Singers. Boerger’s self-published choral arrangements are performed widely, and her settings of poertry by Sarah White – “Ballade with Christine de Pisan,” “Song from Cymbeline,” and “The Silver Buckle on Mozart’s Shoe” – are forthcoming from Boosey & Hawkes. Each director may submit up to 8 names. APPLICATION: We appreciate your assistance in forming the choir by giving your professional and accurate opinion of the singers’ abilities on the application form. PREPARATION: Students are expected to have the music fully prepared to ensure a musically satisfying experience for all. WCDA encourages each high school choir director to assist his/her students in this preparation. The All-State experience will begin in sectionals to ensure that students have arrived prepared for rehearsal with the All-State conductor. It has been the experience of previous WCDA All-State Choir guest directors that careful preparation is crucial for the overall success of the All-State experience.
The Application period, November 1 to November 15, has ended.
