Bass Clef Choir 

Grades: 9-12

Dates: Friday & Saturday, January 8-9, 2027 (Registration 11:30 am on Friday; Concert is at 3:00 pm on Saturday)

Location: Eau Claire, WI (Rehearsals at Lismore Hotel, Concert at Pablo Center)

Nominations: WCDA will form a select state choir of approximately 100-120 outstanding high school bass clef voices, grades 9-12, to present an exceptional program of tenor-bass choral literature. Each director may submit up to 8 singers.  Students should be ranked 1-8, 1 being the highest ranking.

Special Note for Nominations:
WCDA will select students for All-State ensembles by entity. Schools with multiple directors should coordinate nominations as a team. Our goal is to ensure the most equitable representation possible across all participating schools and directors. Directors who teach at more than one school or entity may submit nominations for each entity they represent. If you have questions, please contact the All-State Chair.

Guest Conductor-Clinician: Dr. Trent R. Brown

Dr. Trent R. Brown is Director of Choirs and Professor of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University. He is the founder and Artistic Director of Joyful & Triumphant, an annual holiday concert that reaches thousands of viewers in person and through PBS affiliate broadcast. He also serves as Artistic Director of Choral Artistry, a professional core chorus, and leads them in multiple choral-orchestral performances, collaborative concerts, and educational outreach activities each season. Under his direction the FGCU Chamber Choir has performed four international tours singing at prestigious venues including Sagrada Familia, St. Stephen’s in Vienna, and St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, and FGCU's Chamber Choir and Bel Canto have appeared at multiple FL-ACDA conferences. Recent conducting engagements include serving as guest conductor for the Coro Nacional del Perú in Lima, Perú (2025), Florida All-State TTBB choir (2025) and Wisconsin Honors Project SATB Choir (2026), Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem with FGCU Choirs and Orchestra (2025), Haydn Lord Nelson Mass with Choral Artistry (2025), and festival choirs in Montevideo and Mercedes, Uruguay (2024). Dr. Brown previously taught public high school in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and is thrilled to be working with singers from his home state. He is an active member of ACDA, FMEA, Chorus America, and the College Music Society. He holds degrees from The University of Arizona (DMA), University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (MM) and University of Wisconsin –
Eau Claire (BME).
