CALL FOR PERFORMING CHOIRS AT THE WCDA CONFERENCE – JANUARY 11-12, 2019

Share your music-making with a most appreciative and learned audience!

Help your colleagues grow by allowing us to experience your choir’s musical journey!

Let us Hear Your Voice!

Apply to perform at the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association’s State Conference!

We welcome and encourage all types of choirs and proposed programs.  Invitations to choirs for the WCDA Conference performances are based on the quality of musical performances as demonstrated in the submitted recordings. We encourage submissions from members with a wide variety of experience.  Below are some guiding questions we are developing for focus areas for the conference.  Programs relating to any of these themes are especially welcomed.

  • What if we programmed as much historical music as we do recently composed music?
  • What if we presented programs in which half of the pieces were composed by women?
  • What if we studied more music by composers of different ethnic and racial backgrounds?
  • How can we explore and honor music of different cultures?
  • How can we help our singers feel that they are “seen” in what they sing?
  • How can we support one another as we strive to be resilient in the midst of the challenges in this profession and continue to experience the joy of our choral art?

Perhaps we are already endeavoring in all of these areas or perhaps we can be more intentional about including varied voices in our choral experiences.  By including a wider range of voices in our choral art, I am certain we can find even deeper connections, bridge diverse perspectives, and honor and celebrate our human differences.
